"There was only the joy of slipping through the void, of doing something that humans were not meant to do. To conquer the stars."

Seven Devils was one of my most anticipated reads of 2021 and it didn't disappoint! Totally recommended for fans of sci-fi/space opera and strong female characters!
(Please note that this is adult sci-fi. Trigger warnings: death, murder, torture, slavery)

First of all, the story isn't something completely new or mind-blowing, but it's still exciting, fun, action packed and I loved reading it. This book lived up to my expectations and if you like fast paced space opera action with a cast of kickass heroines, you'll love it too!

Most of all I loved the characters. They each have their own point of view and their own voice, I thought they were really well fleshed out. As the story progresses we learn more about their respective backgrounds through flashback chapters and find out how they got to the point where they are now. And they're all so badass! This book is pure Girl Power!

There are Ariadne and Rhea and I want to protect them with all I have.
And Eris and Nyx who are the perfect example of kickass yet caring.
But my favorite was Clo. Female mechanics/pilots, sighhhhhh.

The story focuses mostly on how the characters are dealing with everything the universe throws at them, but there's a little f/f romance too. It's very slow burn and doesn't make up a huge part of the story, yet it is important for one specific character's development and beautifully written. It was very well done and my only complaint is that I wanted more!

The book is fast paced and doesn't get boring. The world building is interesting and believable. The ending really leaves you worrying about your favorites and also comes with one unexpected twist. Everything else wasn't exactly universe-shakingly new, but still fun. In the end, Seven Devils was a highly enjoyable read with memorable characters that could stand on its own as there isn't a terrible cliffhanger, but it still leaves you longing for the sequel at the same time because these women's story is far from over!
