5 Star Reads of 2020

Hey there bookworms,

yes, today's Wednesday and no, this isn't today's official topic, but I've been wanting to make a post like this for a while now. It's still the first month of 2021, so better late than never! Today I want to talk about my 5 star reads from last year!

I don't rate many books 5 stars. I'm a picky reader. In fact, I only rate books 5 stars that I found truly perfect. So let's see if I can find 5 books that I've rated 5 stars!

1. Skyward by Brandon Sanderson

This was my favorite book of 2020. Seriously, it was just the best thing ever! I read this in February. I've reviewed it here!

2. Darkdawn by Jay Kristoff

The final book in the Nevernight Chronicle was a great conclusion to one of my favorite trilogies. It also made me very emotional. I read this in May.

That's it. These are the only two books I rated full 5 stars in 2020, so let's move on to some 4.5 star reads that I rounded up on goodreads.

3. The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes by Suzanne Collins

Okay, this is maybe an obvious choice for the world's biggest Hunger Games geek. But even though I really loved this, it didn't quite live up to the trilogy. I read it in June. See my review here!

4. Aurora Burning by Amie Kaufman & Jay Kristoff

Even though some romance heavy scenes bothered me a bit, I really loved the second book in this series! I've read it in November and reviewed it here!

5. House of M by Brian Michael Bendis

I started to get into Marvel comics (really complicated and I spent way too much time looking up reading orders) last year and this one was really good. Pretty weird too, but I loved it and rated it 4.5 stars. I read it in October.

Other 4.5 star reads in 2020:

Starsight by Brandon Sanderson

Captain Marvel: Earth's Mightiest Hero by Kelly Sue DeConnick

Wonder Woman: Year One by Greg Rucka

Sanctuary by Caryn Lix

Neon Birds by Marie Grasshoff

These were my top reads of 2020. Even though I'm a critical reader I discovered some really amazing books! Overall, 2020 was a great reading year for me! How about you?

Until next time,

~ Anni
