Top 5 Wednesday: Best Friendships

Hey there bookworms,
I missed out on last week's topic but I'm back again with another T5W post! Today's topic is best friendships in books. T5W is hosted by the official goodreads group you can check out here!

This is an adult sci-fi novel about a spaceship crew whose members couldn't be more different. It's a quiet take on sci-fi, focusing on different species living together. Becky Chambers came up with an incredibly detailed galaxy and so many interesting alien species, and it's simply beautiful to read about the crew members becoming not only friends, but a real found family.

2. Truthwitch by Susan Dennard: Safiya & Iseult
This first book in a fantasy series is about two young witches who are best friends - actually more like soulmates. It's a perfect portrayal of a girl friendship and I think we need more books about that! Fun fact: In German, the book is called Sisters of Truth, and it couldn't be more accurate because Safi and Iseult are so close.

3. Throne of Glass series by Sarah J Maas: Chaol & Dorian

There are many reasons why I love this series so much, and one of them is definitely the character relationships. Especially Chaol, Captain of the Royal Guard, and Prince Dorian, are a great example of best buddies. They grew up together and they'd do pretty much anything for each other. And it doesn't hurt either they're both extremely precious ;)

4. The Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer
Starting with Cinder, this ya sci-fi series is one of my favorites. They're retellings of popular fairytales in a sci-fi universe and the entire spaceship crew is squad goals! Each book introduces some new characters and I love them all. There are a couple of romances too, but everyone is pretty much friends with anyone of that ship and all their banter is seriously amazing! Another great example of the found family trope :)

5. Thirteen Treasures trilogy by Michelle Harrison
This is a middle grade fantasy trilogy and one of my favorite trilogies ever. Being middle grade, these books focus a lot on friendship and going on adventures together, and it's extremely refreshing to read books about a girl and a boy being friends without becoming romantically involved! Instead, there are evil fairies and an ancient manor next to a mysterious forest. This trilogy is really a little gem and I highly recommend it!

These are some of my favorite bookish friendships. I'm a big fan of the found family trope in general so I really enjoyed writing this post! What are some of your favorite books with great friendships?
Happy reading and until next time!
~ Anni
