Top 5 Wednesday: No Thanks

Welcome back bookworms
to another T5W post! This week's topic is No Thanks. It's Thanksgiving in the United States this week, and hopefully all of us have something to be thankful for, but for today's topic I'm gonna discuss 5 characters who find themselves in a situation they are not thankful for. T5W is a weekly book blogging meme currently hosted by Gabriela in the official goodreads group.

1. Cassie from The 5th Wave

Getting caught up in an alien invasion/apocalypse and losing her little brother definitely doesn't sound like a scenario Cassie could possibly have asked for.

2. Kady from Illuminae

It's bad enough Kady broke up with her boyfriend, but then her planet got invaded and she had to flee onto a spaceship where she had to deal with a deadly virus outbreak and an AI gone crazy. No thanks.

3. Fallon from The Valiant

A very underrated ya trilogy in which the main character Fallon gets sold as a slave to Rome, where she has to start training and fighting in the arena as a gladiator.

4. Jason from Dark Matter

The main character Jason in this adult sci-fi novel gets abducted by strangers, only to wake up in an alternate universe where nothing is the same, and he has to find his way back to "his" world.

5. Katniss (...) from The Hunger Games

Honestly, Katniss was the first who came to mind for this prompt. But actually you could replace her with every character from The Hunger Games, because who would ask for being forced to murder other children? Alternatively, if you're not as big a fan of THG as I am, you can replace Katniss with every other ya dystopian heroine.

That's it for today's T5W post! It was relatively easy for me since I read a lot of dystopia and related stuff which is all about revolutions and generally shitty situations. I had fun with this topic and I'm looking forward to everyone's posts and opinions! Happy Thanksgiving to those who celebrate and until next time,
